i didn't understand western herbs until october when evan dennis and i went rosemary picking by flashlight. and on a day by the fountain, i cut dozens to send to minneapolis for $4. i'm slow to the bit, but oregano is next..... and on a longer horizon, maybe thyme. it's enough to rub the needles at bus stops. it's enough to slip the nose from the mask and inhale. on my christmas trip to the met, there was a beautiful set of rosemary pearl jewelry in the gift shop. it made me understand gift shops, though i've always loved them. it made me understand their necessity. i want huge rosemary bushes in the future with pollinators. i only love this land for what it supports. but i could be cruel — breed rosemaries out of dead land — create land for this purpose. the trick is that i do not want to thrive in the place where my favorite plants thrive. since i played geoguessr with akasha at aj's birthday party last year, florida is made to me more and more urgent. i
